I know this event can now be regarded as "historic" having taken place sometime ago, but I only watched the Gents Singles Final on Sky TV the other day and thought the game was excellent viewing. However I could not believe the one sided commentary and bias shown to the Australian Finalist by the commentators Quinten (can't remember his surname) and Iain Shuhback. Just a pity that Graham Shadwell didn't manage to pull it off and despite being very unlucky not to take it to a tie break. I would have liked to have heard how they would have reacted if the Aaron Sherriff had lost the match

Well .. i was there and i watched it ... and to be honest there was a lot of Bias towards the Australians throughout .. but then it was the Australian Open ... so that was to be expected ... the ozzies really didnt like that fact that the other countries were there ... i really wanted Shadwell to get that last shot .. he had played so well up to that point of the competition ... if the ozzies had lost they probably would not have cheered so had at the end .. thats what happened with the English won the pairs

Im pretty sure it was shadders that was playing Selby in the Moama International Challenge, and if you guys get to see this game, and see Selby's performance you will be cracking up at just how bad Selby played.
To think Leif is our singles rep in the Commonwealth Games, if he plays like he did in this game he would be lucky to win against one of the bowls Minows let alone some of the best. His opponent did not have to play well because he was never put under any pressure whatsoever, and its no wonder Selby exited the Australian Open at that time based on his poor performance. You are only as good as your last game and I heard a report that even in the trials he was outclassed by bowlers from the squad who were shifted out of the representative stakes early. Keep a look out for the game, and you will see what I mean. Bias in supporting is natural in all sports, but commentators should have an unbiased view, maybe the guy mentioned should listen to the Australian Cricket Commentators sometime
